Kempsey to Gosford

Kempsey to Gosford

Stopped the night in the centre of Kempsey where another couple travelling by motorbike with a trailer was also staying. They had been down the the Ulyses AGM down round Adelaide area and had been touring around down there and were on there way back to Brisbane. Much cooler morning with cloud and a few showers here and there. Had a couple of jobs to do at Bunnings and a motorbike shop, still getting together some things we may need. Then headed off down the Pacific Motorway down past Port Macquarie and was quite a long way down till we turned into Forster where we stopped for coffee and a bite to eat. Busy coastal town. Next stop was a beautiful little bay called Elizabeth Beach. Chatting to an old surfer (about our age) who was taking school kids for surfing lessons. Pretty laid back lifestyle. Carried on down the lakes highway to Bulahdelah then back onto the Pacific Highway.

Stopped at a roadside cafe called the Rock (guess it looks like Uluru) before getting to Newcastle. Took the coastal route down thru Belmont, stopped at Swansea for a few photos, then onto The Entrance. This is the only entrance from the sea for a huge lake system of salt water lakes. Austalian people are really friendly, they just come up and start chatting. Something to do with the bikes maybe. Even coming down the Pacific Highway stopping at a set of lights a guy in a car asked where we were going and where we were from. Went up to a look out called Crackerneck which looked out over the whole area. A man had just arrived with his homing pigeons for their afternoon flight. He uses them for at weddings and so on.

By this time the sun was nearly down and we were thinking that we could make a run to get through Sydney, but got as far as Gosford and decided to stop for the night.
