The
say that the Great Ocean Road is the journey of a lifetime, one of
the things that you can tick off your bucket list. Well I would
agree. The official beginning of this road is at Torquay and goes
for 243km along the coast and then inland through rainforest to
finish at Nullaware. A beautiful flowy windy ride along the coast and then inland through the rainforest, with farm land dotted along the way.
At
Port Campbell are the infamous 12 Apostles or apparently 11 now,
impossible to tell as you cannot see them all from one place, they
are spread over about 25km of coast line. The
apostles are magnificent
rock stacks of limestone that rise up from the Southern Ocean on
Victoria's dramatic coastline.

We stopped at one point and spoke to a lady who said she was one of the geriatric New Zealand cyclists, cycling from Adelaide to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Road. She said the ages of the people were the spring chicken at 59 to the oldest at 79. Her and another women had ridden from Melbourne to Adelaide first along the Murray River then met the rest of the crew to ride back to Melbourne. Never say never.

Passed
through many dairy farming regions along this route, some of them
looked pretty hard areas for dairy farming but then others look quite
good, many had irrigation. Saw the Fonterra Dairy factory at
Warrambool.
Mt
Gambia is chokka with people doing the national BMX championships
since the beginning of the week through to the weekend so we were
lucky to find some accommodation here.
