Up with the larks this morning for an early start.  shared our accommodation with a few Singapore ants but they didn't seem to bother us.  Coffee and off we went for our first stop at Hall's Creek 290km away.  The scenery is changing all of the time.  Started off mostly flat flood plain areas but changed into more hill and escarpments or ranges.  Hall's Creek was described to us an indigenous town, which was pretty obvious.  Filled up with petrol then looked for a cafe for some breakfast but after riding through the town and back again went back to the roadhouse and got fruit and yoghurt.  Sitting there eating it discovered right under our noses a cafe at the information centre across the road.  In Info centres didn't normally have a cafe.

Fitzroy Crossing was created from necessity as the early settlers needed a place to ford the mighty Fitzroy River.  The old crossing was the shortest safest route across the river.  The photos I have for showing the river with not much water in but apparently not long ago the river was up over the banks and through the River Lodge Park.

Hall's Creek is a busy service town for surrounding pastoralists, Aboriginal communities and
travellers exploring northern Western Australia.  On Christmas day 1885 prospector Charlie Hall found a huge 28-ounce (nearly 1 kilogram) gold nugget at a site that would eventually be names after him.

Filled up again at Warmun (Turkey Creek) another small aboriginal community and then onward to Wyndham where five different rivers meet to go out to sea.  The  plan was to stop here for the night but it was another indigenous town with a couple of pubs and didn't fancy staying there so carried on for another 100km to Kununurra.

Passed more mine sites and in the East Kimberly Rio Tinto have the Argyle Diamond Mine, which is one of the world's largest suppliers of jewellery quality diamonds.  Arriving in Kununurra we crossed the only dam we have seen.

During the day we met two different groups of motorbike riders one group was probably BMW riders and the other were a mixed bunch of big road bike and trikes, both with support vehicles following behind.

Passing one of the big stations they had their chopper up presumably rounding up stock, but the stock seemed to be going in the opposite direction from the cattle yards.
